What’s its story?
Here’s an interesting fact you don’t need to know: beets are believed to originate from the coasts of the Mediterranean (sea beets) and were first cultivated for their edible leaves. The Greeks, like the Romans, cultivated beets for their leaves, but ate them as food and called them teutlon or teutlion, because the foliage resembled squid tentacles. The main difference between Beetroot and Beet is that the Beetroot is a taproot portion of the beet plant. But in the UK and US, they generally refer to the same vegetable.
